We asked designers about drugs in big fashion houses
Once upon a time, creative directors would openly take drugs at work. We spoke with in-house designers about the factors that killed the industry’s drug habit.
“I'm not going to say names, but I worked at the brand of the time with the creative director, and that was a very druggy studio…” says James*, who has been working in fashion design for leading brands for around 15 years. He’s discussing his earlier days in the industry. During show prep, he says, “You'd go to the bathroom, and there'd be a big bowl, and you’d just lift it up, and there'd be lines drawn. It was more for the creative director and the stylist, I guess, but everybody knew it was there and that it was like a mountain.”
