Caroline Rush’s departure from her role as CEO of the British Fashion Council (BFC) signals the end of an era that has seen both tremendous successes and growing frustrations. Over her 15-year tenure, Rush transformed the BFC into a globally recognised institution, significantly elevating the status of British fashion on the international stage. However, her exit also comes at a critical time as the BFC faces increasing criticism from designers and industry insiders who feel the organisation has failed to react to the times and innovate more ways to nurture creativity, innovation, and emerging talent.
