Welcome to AI’m Scared, a new series in which we explore the impact – good and bad – of AI on fashion and the creative industries.

The first time I used ChatGPT, I was pretty underwhelmed. The AI’s attempt at writing felt generic; it overused words like “delve” and, frankly, was boring to read. “There’s no way this thing is going to take my job,” I scoffed, closing the app. But lately, thanks to a few TikTok tutorials that taught me how to “train” and prompt it effectively, I have found myself increasingly impressed and, thus, disturbed. What once seemed like a clumsy tool is becoming a formidable opponent, evolving quickly – and threateningly.
